poly n-butyl titanate
Description
BTP is a polymeric butyl titanate with 100 % active content. BTP is a clear yellowish organic liquid which is very sensitive to moisture. BTP has a very high TiO2 content and releases a lower amount of VOC’s compared with many other titanate products.
Applications
▲ Reaction Catalyst: Reaction Catalyst Coatings Paint Additive Binder TiO2 Pigment and Films BTP is an effective catalyst for esterification, transesterification, condensation, and addition reactions. Benefits are moderate reaction rates, high yield, easy work-up, low toxicity, and low catalyst concentration.
▲ Coating: Glass, metals, fillers, pigments, and plastic can be treated with BTP to give increased surface hardness, adhesion promotion, coloring effects, heat and light reflection, iridescence, and corrosion resistance, and scratch resistance.
▲ Paint Additive: BTP can be used as an additive in paints to crosslink –OH and -COOH functional polymers or binders, promote adhesion, or act as a binder itself.
▲ Binder: BTP can act as inorganic binder alone or in combination with other metal oxide for mineral filled systems providing high temperature resistance.
▲ TiO2 Pigment and Films: Micro- or nano-scale TiO2 pigments can be formed from BTP. It can also be used to create a polymeric TiO2 film on surfaces via pyrolytic or hydrolytic (e.g. sol-gel) processes.
